Final 13 726 (H10 - 1387, L22 - 333) Sometimes the hockey God's are just routing for you.  Was out if GM Marcel did not penalty out when Carolina just blew it all in the final game of the season.  So, not only is Chad in, but he has Stepan.  Already without Havlat he could have lost Brouwer in the final game, but Dallas blew it.  So now Chad is in the NHLP playoffs and he gets a perfect matchup with the lowly Boston Bruins (Ryan) in a series this team could actually win.  Will likely be gone when Tampa loses out but has hope they run and the Leafs finally win an NHLP Championship.  (Not very likely though)
75 20 768 (H10 - 1387, L22 - 333) GM Chad likely waited too long to trade Daniel Sedin and had to settle for St Louis and 10 points.  That left Chad only one point up on 6th with Malone still out long term.  Making the playoffs just isn't likely with the lowest scoring team, by far, in March and now without Malone.  Even if Chad gets in he is already eating Havlat and is do or die on Tampa making a run.  All and all it will likely go down as another miserable season for GM Chad.
70 19 964 (H10 - 1387, L22 - 333) Sitting with the most attractive player, of all NHLP teams in non playoff spots, GM Chad can, if he chooses, take a playoff spot easily, by trading Daniel Sedin.  Imagine what NHLP team could not just go right over the top with him on their team?  It is also almost a certainty that GM Chad can never truly replace Sedin's value at this stage of the season.  It would have to be value to value is what Chad has stated.  So if that doesn't happen, GM Chad just can't let his season go, failing to make the playoffs and not aggressively trying.  So it is trade Sedin or move other parts.  Havlat and Ruutu are not helping.  Modano is a perfect number for the minors and in a Sedin deal, and may have value within the league in a pre-minors move, if only for such.  All eyes are on GM Chad in Toronto and this might be one of the most exciting teams at the Trading Deadline when GM Chad finally says,  "Who can make me a serious offer for Sedin?"
65 15 973 (H10 - 1387, L22 - 333) OK, if Daniel Sedin isn't traded, who will be?  Havlat isn't looking like a playoff player and Ruutu and Fisher are both fringe players.  That leaves Knuble, Modano, and Purcell.  I'd would say that sometimes, you just have to cut the cord...but he, just cut the cord!  So now what?
60 12 1163 (H10 - 1387, L22 - 333) GM Chad didn't wait for Ladd to get traded or resign, he dumped him to the minors along with Shattenkirk and Tambellini and added Havlat, Modano and Fisher.  Nothing 'Balls Out" about that one as things are turning out, looks like a great, great move at this point.  Has assets but all eyes are on Daniel Sedin.  If any player, on any NHLP team out, is likely worth emptying the beer fridge for, it is easily this guy.  Chad faces some tough choices moving forward.  He undoubtedly has stated that his first choice is to get in with Sedin, but what he is offered from the second choice grab bag, might be too tempting not to accept.  What will that be?  What will happen here?  Don't go far, things are winding down in a hurry!
55 11 1099 (H10 - 1387, L22 - 333) Just 5 playoff players and just 5 points up on 5th.  It will not get any easier from here on out.  Points are critical in the North, every one of them.  There is now chatter of Ladd being traded?  On one side he is an RFA and will want a raise from his current $2.35 million, likely about $3.5 to $4.5 and Atlanta can do that for their team Captain.  Also would it make sense to make him Captain and then trade him?  Knowing he is Captain, would that make him want to resign?  Interesting thoughts.  GM Chad would prefer he gets dealt, leaving only Shattenkirk as things sit a non playoff player.  We'll know soon enough.
50 11 1296 (H10 - 1387, L22 - 333) Daniel Sedin and Ruttu teamed up for 33 points in January!  Winnipeg (Mike and Ray) and Los Angeles (Andrew) only had 37!  Then there were Jr's Dallas Stars...Anyhow, these guys are on fire for Chad's Leafs.  Ruttu is finally rated but Ladd seems to be headed in the wrong direction.  Three fringe players and only 6 points to work with.  Chad will need February to be as strong as January, for this team cannot let up or it will be out, just that quickly.
45 9 1258 (H10 - 1387, L22 - 333) Man you have to love the Sedins!  Ruutu is on fire and it is looking like Carolina will overtake Atlanta for a playoff spot, at Ladd's expense here.  Nothing to work with as far as position, but this team is scoring and that might change.  One thing that won't change here this season, Chad's wish for Vancouver to go to the Cup final!
40 10 1387 (L22 - 333) Another team at new heights after the Winter Meeting.  GM Chad bounced quickly on Tambellini the minute GM Joel dropped him in the previous deal.  That was an outstanding move by Chad that likely caught several GM's off guard.  Previously Chad added Ladd in a steal for his non playoff, injured Roy.  Chad's Big Macs must of tasted better after those moves.  Now only Ruutu is not rated, but his 28 are a reasonable number for Chadwick to work with.
35 12 1131 (H2 - 1365, L22 - 333) A nice jump in the CTR but still major work to do.  Three non playoff guys with 75 points between them.  It is nearing the time when someone will have to get eaten.  That player would have, best been Roy, but he is now out for the season.  This team can still score, but only has 14 points to work with.  Simply not enough when this much work is required.  We have heard Chad say before, "There is nothing I can do there", because often he just leaves things too late.  If you have 7 playoff players, you can take on a non playoff player and points, if need be.  If you don't have that, what you do have is work to do.  NEW YEAR'S WISH:  This team makes the NHLP playoffs.  Daniel Sedin can win Chad the Cup here by himself with the Canucks run, so that is the wish.  Support could come from any East team, Washington or Tampa Bay at the moment.  Who replaces Roy is key to how everything after that unfolds.
30 19 775 (H2 - 1365, L22 - 333) GM Chad has work to do with 61 non playoff points from three players.  Many NHLP teams are facing eating a non playoff player and Chad's Leafs are as high on that list as any.  Work will be needed to change things to 7 playoff players, things that can be easily done in this seasons NHLP, but the longer you wait the more competition you may get, as others are in the same boat.  Only 6 points up on 4th, Chad can't be throwing away points.  Shattenkirk was an awesome addition. (“Fasten your seatbelts. It’s going to be a bumpy night” - All About Eve)
25 19 742 (H2 - 1365, L22 - 333) Well, GM Chad did take the CTR's advice and unload low scoring Modano, but only because Modano suffered a serious, long-term injury.  Three players are not rated for Chad's Leafs.  Daniel Sedin is God here and the rest, well, they aren't getting too many other NHLP GM's too excited.
20 21 648 (H2 - 1365, L22 - 333) A long 13 points out with Vancouver struggling to stay rated, sitting in the 8th seed in the West.  This team has assets but can't score.  If Daniel Sedin slows up, this team fades fast.  There comes a time when you must give up on players like Knuble and Modano when you can't score.  Get some scoring and save the best asset, before he becomes your only way out.
15 10 938 (H2 - 1365, L22 - 333) This team can't make up their minds if they are really good or really bad.  A huge jump back the right way thanks to Daniel Sedin being rated finally, adding Samuelsson in with the Canucks improved play as well.  Knuble was a nice addition in a trade with GM Shawn.  Kessel and Booth are not rated.
10 22 333 (H2 - 1365) Is there a colder team right now?  Actually, there is not!  This was a major collapse.  This team was on fire and then everything went wrong.  The scoring stopped, a league low 6 points this past week.  Heavily invested in the previously 1st seeded Leafs who started with 9 out of a possible 10 points in their first five and have gotten 2 of 10 in their last five.  Daniel Sedin also fell out of the rated category along with Booth and Samuelsson.  On top of all this, Chad's Leafs are now double digits out of a NHLP playoff spot in the North and falling fast.
5 2 1365 Is there a hotter team right now?  This team is dominating.  Led by Kessel who is chewing up goaltenders.  GM Chad is finally enjoying watching his Leafs play, getting 9 of a possible 10 points to start the season.  Daniel Sedin, Kaberle, Booth and Samuelsson are doing their part.  Bergeron has yet to get a point, making this team even more scary, as that guy can bring fans out of their seats and likely will do so any day now.  We like this team as long as Toronto sticks around.  Why can't they?  Every year there is a Colorado or Phoenix and you can't argue until someone proves that they can actually beat these guys.
