Team GM
(Division)
Notes
1 2057 (L19 - 651) Charlie

(South)
All of a sudden this team is on fire.  A February with 66 points to lead the entire league.  This team has 5 players on first and second seeded teams and Bergeron and Erat to boot.  This is crazy!  The previous highest CTR for Charlie here this season was 4th, reached twice.  GM Charlie still has 33 to work with.  This is Charlie's best shot ever!  This is the here and now.  He needs to do whatever it takes to finish it off here, for these opportunities just don't come around every year.  We LOVE this team!
2 1997 (H1 - 2120, L10 - 1004) Shawn

(East)
Remains in the feared category and with 41 points up on 5th you have to wonder what GM Shawn can do yet to improve.  That is a lot of points and we are getting to crunch time.  When the NHLP Trading Deadline passes, so do the potential to do anything with those points.  Make no mistake, that you do want to be as high a seed as possible in the NHLP come playoff time, and grab that home ice advantage, starting each playoff series with the pick.  How important is that?  That is for GM's to determine over the next three weeks.  Clearly, Backes will be moved.  One for one or a package that changes this teams look.  Those points will alter another NHLP Division, so everyone needs to be aware at what is going to happen down the stretch.  Big points will move!
3 1525 (L24 - 67) Tyson

(South)
Another season high but only 6 points ahead of 5th.  Bothered by some injuries to big scorers Gaborik and Whitney isn't going to help the position until GM Tyson gets healthy here.  Still a solid team, with solid hope.  Neal goes from Dallas to Pittsburgh, that is a blessing right now.  If Crosby comes back, they might be line mates.  There might be that first round scoring we were worried that might be missing here.  GM Tyson has a shot here to win the Cup, AGAIN.
4 1507 (H1 - 2037, L24 - 315) Chad

(East)
Crosby hasn't a point yet in 2011 but GM Chad is holding onto a playoff spot, still 7 up on 5th.  Still the best Penguins built team in the NHLP, but can he keep it together?  Chad does have 7 playoff players, so other assets could move first.  When will Crosby be back?  He will be back, right?
5 1475 (H2 - 1923, L15 - 703)  Joel

(West)
GM Joel found the deal he liked best and went out and made a 27 point trade with GM Charlie (New York) and brought in Filppula and Holmstrom.  All things considered, now this team is up here to stay.  Tampa Bay is flying, leaving St Louis and Malone top seeded players.  Malone is long term injury, but that has not stopped Joel at all from keeping him.  Will Cole still get dealt as has been the rumor the past month?  Wheeler, won't be traded in the NHL and is 28 points that will be moved later, so there is still not only position, but reason for more action here.  Great deal with New York!
6 1415 (H2 - 1962, L13 - 771) Michael & Ray

(West)
Datsyuk and Cleary and 11 points to work with.  Sharp has been gold and is rated, but nothing is secure there as far as him yet being a playoff guy.  But what a playoff guy he could be!  Benn and Morrow, will likely never be rated again (this year anyhow) as the Stars aren't looking like they are magically going to start winning.  At 1-8-1 in their past 10, no team has been worse.  Mike and Ray are going to have to be busy late, this NHLP season.
7 1385 (H2 - 1874, L15 - 784) Shawn

(South)
Things have really fallen off in a hurry.  Your leading scorer goes from a third seed to 10th between ratings, and to make matters worse, he is out with a concussion right when he could be traded at the NHL Trading Deadline.  Will that truly matter?  We all know (here anyhow) that he is going to be traded.  We think it is going to be to the Kings, but regardless, Richards WILL NOT REMAIN A STAR.  Pominville and Daley have dropped since last rating.  Still a great team and GM Shawn does have points to work with, but now has to hope the CTR is right and Richards is dealt.  If that does happen, only tweaks might be needed.
8   1333 (H7 - 1430, L20 - 464) Joel

(North)
The Sharks stayed high and so has GM Joel this ranking.  This team can flat out score!  Five players basically at 0.80 PPG with 4 of them playoff players.  Not a team you are going to want to play in the first round of the NHLP playoffs, and after that, as long as the Sharks are still in.  Only 14 up on 5th, so it will be hard to make major improvements, but this team, as any team in the NHLP, can always be better.  The ship will likely go down with the Sharks, but message is clearly out there, Joel owns that Cup run, outright!
9 1303 (L12 - 876) Scott

(East)
Tanguay and 22 points for Pronger.  No that is a gutsy move, but the CTR is at a season's high.  That is helped in a big way by Kaberle going to Boston.  We like how it is taking shape.  Still 20 points to work with and a higher scoring team then all teams behind in the East.  On average, every NHLP team should have 1 scorer in the top 24 in overall league scoring.  This team has 3 of the top 27, so the Flyer will still score down the stretch.  Don't think GM Scott is finished.  He is never finished.
10 1208 (H3 - 1600, L16 - 842) Michael & Ray

(North)
This team would be nothing in the CTR without Stamkos.  OK, maybe without Stamkos and Rafalski too.  Stamkos and the Lightning will not and have not gone away.  Heading into their big blowout of Phoenix, Tampa Bay was minus 6 goals in the for-against category, on the season, yet with a record of 34-18-7.  Is that even possible?  If I didn't see it with my own eyes there is no way I'd believe it!!!  Ottawa is having trouble scoring, outside of Stamkos and Vanek.  Vanek is now unrated again.  His scoring is far to hard to replace, so the Sens will need him to get into a playoff spot.  It could happen, but in all likelihood, at this point in the season, Mike & Ray will be facing a penalty for him come the NHLP Deadline.
11 1199 (H1 - 1648, L12 - 834) Matt

(South)
Believed Dallas would turn it around and traded Iginla for Eriksson to go along with Ribeiro.  Not looking good with that move yet, but not to worry too much, this team has a few other top players.  Two Tampa and two Boston players makes it a force from the NHL's Eastern Conference.  Lecavalier has been revived and is smoking hot.  He just had a 5 point night against the Coyotes.  GM Matt will have a shot on either Bruins or Lightning runs, as things sit, so it could yet be something memorable.  Matt might want to forget his Stars players exist, but won't likely have that luxury, as he'll have to move them in all probability.
12 1163 (H10 - 1387, L22 - 333) Chad

(North)
GM Chad didn't wait for Ladd to get traded or resign, he dumped him to the minors along with Shattenkirk and Tambellini and added Havlat, Modano and Fisher.  Nothing 'Balls Out" about that one as things are turning out, looks like a great, great move at this point.  Has assets but all eyes are on Daniel Sedin.  If any player, on any NHLP team out, is likely worth emptying the beer fridge for, it is easily this guy.  Chad faces some tough choices moving forward.  He undoubtedly has stated that his first choice is to get in with Sedin, but what he is offered from the second choice grab bag, might be too tempting not to accept.  What will that be?  What will happen here?  Don't go far, things are winding down in a hurry!
13 1058 (H2 - 1655, L14 - 900) Andrew

(North)
The worst appears to be in the past now for GM Andrew.  A team that can score like no other in the NHLP.  These are exciting times for GM Andrew with Hemsky sitting there, either as a non playoff headache, or a playoff monster, depending on what happens by the NHL Trading Deadline conclusion.  This team's fate changes just that quickly.  Jokinen, Hossa and Campbell are flirting with non playoffs but all, and all, we think things are going to work out here.  This team will likely even still be first in the North when Andrew starts the NHLP Trading Deadline, where we all know, he will be heard from.
14 982 (H9 - 1209, L20 - 540) Tyson

(East)
A terrible injury to M. Koivu who broke a finger and is gone for most of the rest of the season.  To not help matters Backstrom just broke a thumb.  He is listed as day to day, but we'll wait this out before we call him day to day.  These hurt big time.  With Pittsburgh (Chad) having Crosby out, these injuries only level the playing field out and make them both pickings for Boston (Ryan) and NY Rangers (Charlie) when they decide they want to make their charges.  Peverley being dealt to Boston created a nice asset but Stewart still isn't helping any in the least.  How Tyson plays the Koivu injury will determine a lot here, moving forward.
15 931 (H11 - 1378, L20 - 470) Matt

(North)
Duchene and Savard were dropped but it didn't quite work as hoped for GM Matt.  He added Goligoski from Pittsburgh who has since turned into Goligoski from Dallas.  Not quite the same player, with the Stars falling like snow, off the roof of Cowboys Stadium.  Perry is now unrated, leaving almost 100 points of garbage if Perry and Goligoski don't come back around.  With only 13 points to work with, no major deals will likely occur here, but expect something to happen, as GM Matt is 24/7.
16 892 (H4 -1502) Charlie

(East)
The CTR snapped on GM Charlie.  GM Charlie snapped back.  It was such an ugly war of words from such a likeable, loveable and very, very handsome GM.  "We just wish he was that lively all the time" said a representative from the Yearbook, who asked not to be named, "The fat little fucker is mad right now.  You think I want the shit kicked out of me?"  The CTR had merely stated GM Charlie had not done enough with his "lesser lights" and in turn would have to lose his major assets when he turns things around.  GM Charlie did trade major assets, as was predicted to happen, to Vancouver (Joel) for Visnovsky who is now not rated and Recchi, a sweet asset.  Gone and never to be seen again are Filppula and Holmstrom and likely any hope GM Charlie had to win the Cup, here.  Although 13 points out, further assets will still be moved at some point.  A Washington or Philly run (nice things to hope for) are Charlie's hope now, that is if he can get in with those guys still on the roster.  The CTR is at a season low now and the CTR can only look at what might have been, "All Chuck had to do was work the 5,6 and 7 players harder for scoring.  Hopefully all GM's can learn from this."
17  871 (H7 - 1294, L19 - 472)   Marcel

(South)
Still has 7 playoff players and is only 5 points out of 4th.  The same question marks still remain.  If the Kings remain strong, this is likely the best Kings team (Boston, Ryan the other).  Imagine, if the Kings get Richards to play with Kopitar?  Wow.  We think it will happen, does anyone else?
18 824 (H12 - 1171, L23 - 425) Jr

(West)
GM Jr has clearly had better years in the NHLP.  To be honest, we don't really recall any worse.  Briere is awesome, this we all know.  Elias, Skinner, Hall?  Don't sound like names that will be dealt at the NHL Trading Deadline.  Does sound like 132 points that might have to be traded.  Huselius?  Well, Columbus thinks they are now a playoff team, so will he actually move?  There isn't a lot of points to do a lot of work, so don't expect top notch, big deals, over little patch jobs.  This team can get in, but can it really win anything at all?  This might be where Briere makes his money.
19 645 (H5 - 1446, L20 - 525) Ryan

(East)
You know it really is a bad season when your best player, potentially your best, goes from the 3rd seed to a team only rated out of kindness.  Oh wait a minute.  What is that?  GM Ryan had the foresight to move Goligoski in a waiver pick, before he got traded!  Goligoski along with Boyes and Bergfors for J. Johnson, Ennis and Boyle.  The CTR liked how it turned out, so maybe things are turning for the best here.  Still has Nash and Ennis unrated, but both are on teams that look to be rising.  Still not gaining enough, fast enough that is, on the injured teams ahead (Cleveland and Pittsburgh).  We do expect that to really change in the next two weeks, and this team will be in a playoff spot in the East, making that 7 points out of third place disappear by the NHLP Trading Deadline.
20 418 (H8 - 1357)  Andrew

(West - Pacific)
Never good to have a season low CTR this late in the season.  Let's be honest.  The Malkin injury killed.  Tried to regroup and banked on the Ducks who seemingly were on fire.  That was like investing in Enron.  Looked good for a while anyhow!  Well that too has failed and Andrew's three Ducks are out of it right now, all unrated.  The top seeded player here is a 6th seeded Hab.  Sure, Andrew has 14 points to work with, but with 4 non playoff players, even if he makes a playoff team, it can't be much better than Charlie, can it?  Might be time to look for that loose change!
21 269 (H13 - 951, L21 - 150) Scott

(West)
Is now only 11 out of a playoff spot and trying to be a spoiler.  The NHL Trading Deadline could be awfully good or just another wasted opportunity for GM Scott, who seemingly banks on this day each and every year.  "Sometimes it works, but this is a longer shot I understand" said Scott.  Banking on one of Weiss or Penner getting dealt and both would be heaven sent.  All for not, however, if Chicago doesn't come back and stay in.  "We are prepared to penalty out with Toews.  He is not being dealt, under any circumstance" stated GM Scott who will not be moving his favorite player he said.  When asked if he was serious, he stated, "Bring on the penalties!"
22 114 (H22 - 502, L24 - -221) Marcel

(North)
After not receiving any offers for his Waiver, GM Marcel went for it.  He traded Pronger for Tanguay and received 22 points.  Montreal is still 19 out in the North and as is, things don't look pretty.  Marcel hopes are that, that could change. Is there any hope?  Long shots everywhere yes, but what else did he have prior?  First, is the NHL Trading Deadline helping his cause.  Will Stastny, Liles and or Kovalev be traded?  If yes, to whom?  Liles going to Toronto will not help anything.  Second, can the Devils keep winning?  Shocking to us was the fact that GM Marcel dropped Zajac, seeing as he was banking on Kovalchuk already.  Finally, will Marcel finish off what he started?  (Earlier in the season GM Marcel's movie quote was from Tombstone, "You gonna do something, or just stand there and bleed?"  He was 54 points out at the time, so this one is only fitting now.)  It was great trading Pronger for Tanguay, when in his situation, but if he doesn't follow it through, maybe moving further assets to build at the minimum a longer shot team, it will have all been for not.
23 -64 (H16 - 870) Ryan

(West)
Least his Green Bay won the Super Bowl!!!
24 -118 (H3 - 1207, L23 - -139) Jr

(South)
Least GM Jr won the Super Bowl Pool this season!!!
