If Cleveland is to try and repeat, they need to catch two teams in front
with 47 player games left and are down 5 points. It is possible
with teams in front without Crosby, Pronger and Ovechkin, but it won't
be easy on a team that has scored a Division low 35 for the month of
March. If GM Tyson can get in he has Mikko Koivu he will be eating
which wasn't a good move for Tyson, getting stuck with him. If
Cleveland gets in a Washington run would be awesome with the same said
about Los Angeles. Outside that, it is unlikely to happen this
season for the Defending Champs. |

Only 16 days in March and GM Tyson has lost 31 points to GM Charlie's NY
Ranger team in the East Division! Can you believe that? This
team has just died. The scoring isn't there right now and although
only 6 points out, who is going to wake up here? If no one does,
expect movement at the NHLP Trading Deadline. This is the
defending NHLP Champions, something to be proud of. You can't
repeat if you don't grab a playoff spot. What we have noticed, is
that GM Tyson is very calm and cool in these situations. We think
he'll do the right things, but making the NHLP playoffs, already
carrying Koivu, won't be a guarantee. |

A big waiver to come, which will help. Koivu was a bad injury and
likely he will finally be gone. Minny hasn't looked like they are
going to make it, but we just said the same thing about Dallas and now
they can't lose. Stewart will be gone for certain as GM Tyson is
falling in the CTR and not gaining at all in the East Division
Standings. Changes are due and are coming soon. |

A terrible injury to M. Koivu who broke a finger and is gone for most of
the rest of the season. To not help matters Backstrom just broke a
thumb. He is listed as day to day, but we'll wait this out before
we call him day to day. These hurt big time. With Pittsburgh
(Chad) having Crosby out, these injuries only level the playing field
out and make them both pickings for Boston (Ryan) and NY Rangers
(Charlie) when they decide they want to make their charges.
Peverley being dealt to Boston created a nice asset but Stewart still
isn't helping any in the least. How Tyson plays the Koivu injury
will determine a lot here, moving forward. |

GM Tyson looks to move into 3rd place in the East Division thanks to the
Crosby injury, but standings don't make this team better or scarier.
As it sits this is a dream first round matchup for almost any other NHLP
team. With Atlanta playing as poorly as anyone in the NHL since
the New Year, Peverley and Stewart have found themselves as non playoff players and
unranked. Doubtful that changes, as Atlanta has shown nothing to
make anyone feel they can turn it around. They stopped scoring and
their defense is best suited for offense. GM Tyson has work to do. |

The good thing is he already won a cup here. The bad thing - it is
looking like it ain't gonna happen again any time soon!!! The
problem is the 4 fringe players. Minny has moved into a playoff
spot, so Koivu is rated, but this teams top seeded player is Hudler and
that isn't something to get real excited about. GM Tyson added
the little pieces last year but this season it might take a bigger piece
to change the excitement about repeating. |

Doing all they can to stay in 4th in the East, GM's Tyson's defending
champs are struggling. A serious drop in the CTR with Backstrom's
health now a question. Could have 4 non playoff players if Atlanta
falls out including high scorer Koivu. This isn't pretty. |

Started the Winter Meeting off by adding Stewart and Hudler for Simmonds
and Berglund. Hudler will hold back the scoring here and Tyson
will need scoring to compete when the teams behind in the East Division
move players later. Backstorm is still the team leader and Tyson
does have a full slate of playoff players, even though three are fringe.
The biggest thing in the second half will be staying in a playoff
position as the top three in the East don't seem to be slowing. |

Has some work to do in the New Year and no position to do it with.
May end up eating a non playoff player unless GM Tyson gets to work and
soon. NEW YEAR'S WISH: Obviously to repeat.
Championships in your first to years. Who does he think he is, GM
Norm! Yes, Norm did it in St Louis, fittingly enough, Tyson's
other team. Would like to see a run from the LA Kings, where he
has Doughty and Simmonds or Washington with Backstrom. That is the
dream final, two teams with the potential to make runs happen. |

The defending Champs are doing all they can to stay in the playoffs in
the East. Only 9 out of first, but a single assist up on 5th
place. Washington has hit the skids in a big way and Backstrom's
CTR value has dropped. At 25 points, Koivu is looking like he will
have to be a 2-2 to the minors at some point. Doughty has picked
his game up, but this team isn't in the same class as most of the East
Division. (“Play
it again, Sam” - Casablanca) |

Los Angeles has drop seeds and Doughty and Simmonds have a combined 14
points in 44 games. Hardly exciting! Too many fringe players
have finally caught up as the CTR drops a whopping 400 points. If
it weren't for Backstrom this team would be a lot of fun to trash talk
about in the CTR. That may yet come! This division is close,
as the Fury are only 13 out of first, but they aren't near as good as
the rest of the division, as the CTR proves. |

Still climbing, as the Kings stay hot and Doughty finally awakes.
Although, Simmonds now appears dead, at least everyone is rated! Backstrom
is the team leader in points, seeding and CTR ranking. Still a struggle
within the Division, with
everyone else here, for position, but nice assets if needed later on the
trade front. |

A huge 300 point jump in the ratings. Koivu has some nice value
finally as the Wild jump the NHL standings. No position over 5th
place in the East Division, but 7 players are being rated. Doughty
is really slow at only a point in 7 games, but GM Tyson is holding on to
the Kings big D-man, hoping he picks it up. "Low scoring players
off good teams always have a lot of value" said Muddy Capone, "Tyson has
a lot of options with that low number!" |

The Yearbook seems to have lit a fire under Simmonds butt as he went
from zero to hero in a hurry. The Kings have jump atop the NHL
standing in the West along with the Blues and that holds well for the
Fury with Simmonds and Doughty. The team however, has injury
problems. Backstrom still leads the way, giving the Fury a top
scoring Capital, mirroring last years NHLP Champions, which were led by
Ovechkin. Koivu's scoring will look good in a Waiver later on. |

Cup hangover? The teams not scoring and the top guys who are,
Mikko Koivu and Dubinsky are on junk teams. Backstom and Versteeg,
yes Versteeg, are carrying this ranking. Simmons, the deadbeat
pick up for the injured drafted Prospal seems to be a bad choice at this
point, with Simmons yet to light the lamp or even pass it to someone,
who even passed it to someone else, who lit it for him. With zero
points, Prospal's potential injury pick of 5 points might be looking
damn fine about now. Expect changes to occur here, as soon as
possible. |
