Could not have
been a happy camper when Dallas blew their opportunity for the playoffs,
but all in all, it likely matters not. If Dallas and Richards were
only first round scoring, who needs it. The Wolverines match up
against GM Marcel in Florida and without Eric Staal and Kopitar, GM
Shawn should be able to roll over those former NHLP Champs. This
team gets a lot better in the second round and although the CTR isn't
the best, Shawn does have matchups of Vancouver versus Philly, Boston or
Pittsburgh. We like those and we like this team. |

Just could not get rid of Brad Richards and if Dallas misses, this team
will likely be one you want to play in round one. Has some nice
matchups if the Canucks go, and a great Flyers combo of Richards and
Hartnell. Is in and weakened if Dallas misses and could be out if
Dallas is in, as they are only 2 points up on 5th with St Louis (Tyson)
outscoring this team by 11 points so far in March. If only
Richards had been traded at the NHL Trading Deadline this might be
totally different. |

Sometimes you
sit and honestly look at things and you have to give credit. We
now and then think, this is 'so and so's' year. We think that
about GM Charlie this season and we think that about GM Shawn.
Just solid drafting, trading and the right moves all year. This
team is just a damn fine team. Currently 7 playoff players and
points enough to make deals with the fringe players that exist.
All in all, it will be a busy time between now and when the teams are
set, for we do expect offers and deals made from this current roster.
Who for what? That is always the question! |

We said
Richards will not remain a Star. We didn't specify at the Trading
Deadline or July 1st when he leaves as a UFA!!! OK, shit, we
guessed and got it badly wrong. Shit happens. Wasn't like we
had inside information like GM Andrew always gets through Twitter.
The way Dallas is playing lately, that might be a blessing in disguise
for GM Shawn as the Stars, again against the CTR predictions, just
cannot lose. The Wolverines have 4 top seeds and currently 3
fringe players. Daley is a nice low number if changes are needed
but Richards is hard to move with such a high number and GM Shawn only
has 12 points to work with. This team is solid, but we feel not
finished just yet, so we'll find out if GM Shawn is planning to keep
both Richards', or is Brad gone, before the NHLP Trading Deadline? |

Things have
really fallen off in a hurry. Your leading scorer goes from a
third seed to 10th between ratings, and to make matters worse, he is out
with a concussion right when he could be traded at the NHL Trading
Deadline. Will that truly matter? We all know (here anyhow)
that he is going to be traded. We think it is going to be to the
Kings, but regardless, Richards WILL NOT REMAIN A STAR. Pominville
and Daley have dropped since last rating. Still a great team and
GM Shawn does have points to work with, but now has to hope the CTR is
right and Richards is dealt. If that does happen, only tweaks
might be needed. |

1874, L15 - 784) |
(Unofficially -
This is the first time in CTR history, we recall a GM having the CTR #1
and CTR #2 held positions. CONGRATS TO GM SHAWN on this feat!)
Pominville is in!!! Well, rated for now anyhow.
There is just nothing not to love about this team. We just don't
see Brad Richards being traded, but we honestly do not know their
internal money problems in Dallas. If he is dealt, they will have
sent a clear picture on the financial problems of Dallas. GM Shawn
can't do a whole lot better than a 3rd seeded team for Richards, but
this story will unfold quickly with only 17 days to the NHL Trading
Deadline. |

A 77 point
month with 5 non hockey days. This team might have gotten 90 had
it not been for the All Star game!
Five players had months in the double digits, while the low lights were Timonen 9 and Daley 7.
They'll need to be better...IF THIS TEAM IS
TO REACH 100 IN FEBRUARY! All players are on home seeds to start
the playoffs, with only Pominville a non playoff, for now. With 27
points to work with, this team can bring something of value in for those
points. We
knew GM Shawn was an asset to the NHLP, but right about now, a few GM's might be wishing
we still had Henry! |

Inches higher
with Timonen and Daley. Awesome team top to bottom and 23 points
still to work with. Four top seeds and six home first round
playoff teams. Only Pominville here is a zero. |

1728 (L15 - 784) |
Adding yet a
third Flyer at the Winter Meeting has helped GM Shawn creep a little
further up the CTR, besting his best again. With a whopping 27
points still to invest Shawn is sitting with six playoff players and
only Pominville's 20 as unrated. The opportunity is here to
improve. |

1649 (L15 - 784) |
An unbelievable
deal has New Orleans just about the top of the chart. Why not?
Richards and Richards is a deadly 1-2 with lots of top seeded support
and 16 points to improve, moving Pominville at his choosing. NEW
YEAR'S WISH: The Flyers going to the Cup finals. How easy is
that? Mike Richards, Timonen, Hartnell and Brad Richards traded
there at the deadline. Wishful thinking? Maybe, but it is a
wish just the same is it not? |

What can you
say about GM Shawn's season? Richard's continues to do magic here.
Will he get dealt? Odds are unlikely if Dallas continues to play
this good. He is an UFA and will be the cream of next seasons
crop. Everyone here but Iggy is rated, the teams hottest guy.
Iginla seems a perfect pick up for a team that is out who needs scoring
if they can eat him or unload him later. There is even hope he
gets dealt, but with two full season at 7 million is that a reason to
trade for him or not to trade for him if you are another NHL GM? (“I’m
your Huckleberry.” - Tombstone) |

1359 (L15 - 784) |
Richards has
moved into a top seed with the hot play of Dallas and GM Shawn's
Wolverines have followed suit in the CTR. Only Iginla is not rated
here. Shawn is 14 points clear of 5th and the top rated South
Division club. Clearly he can do something with those points, with
his coming waiver, possibly packaging Iggy with Turris to improve his
CTR. |

969 (H5 - 1153,
L15 - 784) |
There are 5
NHLP Championships from the South Division teams (Two from St Louis and
Dallas, and one from Florida) so we thought, hey, that is more than any
other division in the NHLP, we better lay off the South Division a
little. Then we realized, the GM's between them in the North
Division, had a League low (for a Division) number of Cups between them,
so we thought, this all does make sense. Did that make sense?
What made sense? Well, ragging on them, being a pathetic division
and all, made sense to us. This division, points wise, is
horrible. Here is GM Shawn, still in third place in the South, but
only 83 points, good for 6th in all the other divisions!!! Really,
that matters not, and won't matter as much as, the teams CTR, their
league-wide strength come playoffs. This teams top rated player is
Hartnell. Enough said. |
15 |
11 |
905 (H5 - 1153,
L15 - 784) |
At 57 points in
the South, GM Shawn is in 2nd place and up on 5th by 7 points. In
any other Division, 57 would be at best LAST place! Matters not,
for there are going to be 4 playoff teams from the South Division when
all is said and done. Finally got Burrows back, having played in
four games, but he has yet to get a point, even though Vancouver has
moved up to a rated team. Added Pietrangelo but gave up Knuble,
seems a sideways move, after a screw up in which he thought he could
unload Turris as a penalty free player after a pair of healthy
scratches. Room to improve on the CTR with Iginla and Turris
unrated. |
10 |
15 |
784 (H5 - 1153) |
Still a solid
position but clearly a disappointing slide backwards for GM Shawn.
What gave? Richards 10 in his first 5, turning to 4 in his last
five is still solid, but Dallas dropped through the standings like an
anchor overboard. Iginla and Turris, although final getting some
points, are not rated. Krejci is a major bright spot as Boston is
on the rise and looking solid in net. Is hanging on well with Burrows
getting closer to his return. |

Another team
from the South! One point out with two players yet to get a point
this seasonm how is it even possible in this Division? Oh ya, he
has BRAD RICHARDS on his team! First place Dallas Stars and 10
points from Richards in just 5 games. Who needs anything from
Burrows and Turris with production from your second round pick like
that. Now if only Iginla would finally be Iginla again. |
