Final 3 1486 (H4 -1502, L16 - 892) Came back to finish atop the East.  A great season for GM Charlie and a great team here in New York.  Ovechkin will ideally lead the charge in the playoffs but Charlie also has top seeded Leino in the East as well.  The opportunity is here for GM Charlie to finally get his first Championship.
75 6 1296 (H4 -1502, L16 - 892) Missing the Trading Deadline looks to have not cost GM Charlie a playoff spot, as it could very well have.  Currently in 2nd place and looking like a lock, even still without Ovechkin, Charlie did nothing, leaving the team as is.  Still will need Anaheim in for first round scoring.  Has 6 Eastern Conference players and is strong in Washington, Philadelphia and Tampa Bay.  Likely will need one of those teams to go the distance if this team wins it all.  Only 4 points clear of 5th place so can ill afford to slow down now.
70 8 1268 (H4 -1502, L16 - 892) GM Charlie cannot be happy about having to miss the NHLP Trading Deadline.  He has 7 playoff players and is only 2 points out in the East Division standings, outscoring everyone else, like they were standing still (Cleveland, Tyson might actually be standing still, it is hard to tell of late).  But when you aren't there, at the Deadline, you can't react.  Not a lot of season left after the meeting, so it is just a little scary that this team could somehow miss.  Ovechkin is finally what Charlie purchased him to be.  Johansson has been the beneficiary of Backstrom's injury and has been a very pleasant surprise, that Charlie would not part with when opportunities presented themselves.  Good on Chuck for being strong and having one pay off!
65 14 1026 (H4 -1502, L16 - 892) GM Charlie is not in any panic mode.  "I will be all right" stated Charlie about his Rangers chances.  "I have a ton of assets that everyone wants and two low numbers I can move a high non playoff player, if I add one, in a deal.  I still have Ovechkin, Leino, Recchi.  I have a solid team."  GM Charlie is right about all that.  He has a solid team and now at only 11 out, he can keep most of it.  The teams in front have to know this team is taking a playoff position.  Be fore warned!
60 16 892 (H4 -1502) The CTR snapped on GM Charlie.  GM Charlie snapped back.  It was such an ugly war of words from such a likeable, loveable and very, very handsome GM.  "We just wish he was that lively all the time" said a representative from the Yearbook, who asked not to be named, "The fat little fucker is mad right now.  You think I want the shit kicked out of me?"  The CTR had merely stated GM Charlie had not done enough with his "lesser lights" and in turn would have to lose his major assets when he turns things around.  GM Charlie did trade major assets, as was predicted to happen, to Vancouver (Joel) for Visnovsky who is now not rated and Recchi, a sweet asset.  Gone and never to be seen again are Filppula and Holmstrom and likely any hope GM Charlie had to win the Cup, here.  Although 13 points out, further assets will still be moved at some point.  A Washington or Philly run (nice things to hope for) are Charlie's hope now, that is if he can get in with those guys still on the roster.  The CTR is at a season low now and the CTR can only look at what might have been, "All Chuck had to do was work the 5,6 and 7 players harder for scoring.  Hopefully all GM's can learn from this."
55 13 948 (H4 -1502) Not much of a surprise that the 4 worst scoring point per games teams in the NHLP, are the four 6th place teams!  Just none of the others have a CTR like this one, this high.  There is some hope, albeit slim, for GM Charlie here.  Making the playoffs is not an issue.  A monkey could get this team into the playoffs, even though 33 points down.  GM Charlie has too many assets not to hit the ground, at some point, when he trips and falls into a trade of some kind.  The problem is what will remain?  This team will have to lose it's best chance, just to make the playoffs.  That could have been avoided.  GM Charlie has been just what we expected.  He has sat on his ass, doing nothing at all here and expecting things to fix themselves.  This team can't score.  We have said that for three months.  This league seldom fixes these problems by themselves.  It just don't usually work like that.  Gomez, Fehr and Zherdev, or whoever, could have been worked harder.  A Fehr could have been turned into a Spezza kind of move, to increase the bottom half scoring and get closer in the standings.  This way less assets would have to move to overcome the 33 points deficit Charlie now faces.  There is likely a reason why GM Charlie has not won a NHLP Championship in his first 10 seasons, we just can't put our finger on exactly, what the reason might be!
50 15 1000 (H4 -1502) GM Charlie is really enjoying this winter.  Not the NHLP, but all the sliding he and the kids have been doing.  Well, Charlie is doing a lot of sliding of late in the NHLP standings and the CTR as well.  Do you ever get the feeling he may over value some of his players?  Seriously!  He has hung on to Fehr all season, even now when injured, on a Washington team that is what, a playoff team?  There are a lot of 17 point playoff guys scoring 0.41 PPG.  Two Wings and two Flyers, two of the best teams in the league - that's four players off top seeds. Ovechkin to boot.  So what is the problem?  Scoring for sure, as this team is 26 points out and still sliding monthly.  Get some of these deadbeats out, to the minors, for scoring of any kind, because as is, and we have said this before, more assets then was necessary are going to have to go, or worst yet, might be the crap that comes back in return.  If Charlie wanted to trade playoff for playoff, he can be in the playoffs tomorrow, so it isn't too late.  You just have to cut the cord is all.  The problem is GM Charlie has the seven best players in the league and can do no better.  So says his agent anyhow!
45 13 1053 (H4 -1502) Now a season low CTR, even though an unbelievable CTR for a team 22 points out of 4th and in last place.  The team can't score, even with Ovechkin.  Holmstrom and Fehr are both out for the month, seriously hurting the long term options.  There are assets here, but doing nothing will mean nothing in the end.  Leaving this team as is to the trading deadline will not work as come march, as is, this team will be 40+ out.  What then?  Trade Ovechkin for Garbage and a pile of points?  GM Charlie needs to get aggressive or just fade away this season.
40 12 1192 (H4 -1502, L10 - 1056) GM Charlie stuck to his word and did not make a move in New York during the Winter Meeting.  Charlie has a pile of assets, average scoring players on top seeds, that he will have to move to battle in the East Division.  Ovechkin is clearly the major asset here and the offers will be continuous until Charlie pulls some deal, either Ovie or someone else.  A respectable CTR considering this team isn't scoring and is 18 points out of 4th.  Should be an interesting second half here in the Big Apple.
35 9 1268 (H4 -1502, L10 - 1056) GM Charlie is 18 points out with 7 playoff players.  Chuck can gain points from any deal, ranging from 1 or 2 to a monster deal for Ovechkin.  All the top teams here continue to gain monthly, so at some point Charlie will have no choice but to pull the trigger.  What will move and what will stay?  NEW YEAR'S WISH:  A blockbuster NHLP deal that nets points and playoff players.  Obviously you'd like to keep Ovechkin, but with two Red Wings and two Flyers, maybe that cup run combination of 4 players is all that is needed and Ovechkin may be auctioned to the highest/best bidder.  Remember, going to the NHLP finals this year is just two teams, so a player or two is all it will take to win this year.  This team can do just that, but first, must some way make the NHLP playoffs as competitive.
30 10 1056 (H4 -1502) Everyone knew this team could not score with the rest of the East Division, but that was ok, Ovechkin can keep GM Charlie close.  Well when Ovechkin slumps, this team pays the price.  Dropping to a season low 21 points out of 4th the assets here are as important as ever.  OV's stock isn't rising with the Caps fall in the NHL seeding.  It is going to take Charlie's best work ever to get this team back in and remain somewhat strong.  the top teams in the East aren't coming back because they can't, not with 1st to 5th only 10 points.  Movement up top is unlikely, so Charlie will need to do the gaining.  If he got aggressive with some waivers, he might be able to keep assets.  As is, everyone is eyeing the top prize.  (“Never take your eyes off of your opponent…even when you bow.” - Enter The Dragon)
25 4 1447 (H4 -1502, L8 - 1099) A slight drop in the CTR points-wise, but not in the CTR standings or the NHLP standings as GM Charlie remains 14 points out in the East.  GM Charlie is CTR #4 but only the 3rd ranked team in the tough East Division.  This team has 6 players on top two seeds.  No team can touch that!  Charlie has options galore and they will come in handy down the road as he can easily trade up if the division doesn't trade down.  This team is in the elite category and may at some later point be the team to beat in the entire NHLP!!!  They just can't score!
20 4 1502 (L8 - 1099) No NHLP team has top seeded players like GM Charlie does here in New York.  Are you kidding us?  Ovechkin leads this charge on a team with two Caps, two Flyers and two Wings...with a Hab (ouch, it's ONLY Gomez), who are seeded 3rd to boot.  This team does have one little problem....IT CAN'T SCORE!!!  Right now, GM Charlie's Rangers, are 14 points out, but their isn't a team with more moveable parts in the entire NHLP.  This team will be heard from this season.  The loan question, always remains with a GM Charlie team, is what will Charlie be able to do, to keep this team strong, but in a playoff position, which at the moment, cannot happen unless Charlie makes a trade!
15 3 1448 (H4 - 1200) A nice jump back in the CTR.  Second topped ranked East Division team but has major scoring problems.  Only 6 points out of a playoff spot, so not time to panic, but Gomez, Zherdev, Fehr and Homlstrom have been very weak, although all rated.  Ovechkin is once again the most valuable player in the NHLP, but where is the surprise there?
10 8 1099 (H4 - 1200) Last in the East in the standings, and dropping from 1st to 3rd in the Eastern Divisions CTR ranking are Chuck's Rangers.  Still a great team at CTR #8.  Still scoring problems however.  Gomez and Zherdev have 5 points between them.  They need to wake up, just as Holmstrom did, with 5 points in three games.  Expect the scoring to pick up some, but that only means this team can compete for 4th.
5 4 1200 Sitting in 4th spot in the East, this is the Divisions best all around team.  Ovechkin is pure gold, picked first, thanks to a pre-draft deal that GM Charlie has to be smoking happy with.  One has to wonder just what GM Shawn could have gotten had he put it out to the league he'd move the first overall pick?  Maybe poor management by many other GM's and a great, great move by Charlie.  Outside Ovechkin, this team may have trouble getting points, and still nothing from the often injured Holmstrom.  Right now though, we like where this has started.
