One of only two teams in facing Potential Penalties. Is out if
Carolina does not come back and that now appears unlikely to happen.
Could also make it and miss his two Anaheim or Calgary players depending
on how the West shakes out. Gave it his all, but likely waited to
late to make his charge. |

It is possible GM Marcel only has Subban in the NHLP playoffs.
Marcel did not give up but there were some questionable moves. He
had opportunities to grab 'surer' playoff players, uncontested at that.
Now he is in a deep hole and unless teams out come back in, what can he
truly do here? |

534 (L24 - -221) |
Wow. Let me tell you what, wow! A season high CTR of 534
doesn't say a lot, but the fact this team is in a playoff spot in the
North does. GM Marcel never packed it in. I am not sure we
would call this team a "Cinderella story", as much as we would an "Ugly
step-sister" but the difference is a single slipper. If Marcel can
get in, we have seen, even just last year, the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th
seeds win in round one, and that was only in the Eastern Conference.
"You never know" said Muddy Capone, "The 7th and 8th seeds in the East
made the conference Finals just last season. Every year we fall
into the same routine of discounting the lower seeded teams but every
year one of them are going to be heard from in the playoffs, to some
extent. So if you have a ticket to the Ball, you stand a change to
get a dance with Cinderella." |

L24 - -221) |
After not receiving any offers for his Waiver, GM Marcel went for it.
He traded Pronger for Tanguay and received 22 points. Montreal is
still 19 out in the North and as is, things don't look pretty.
Marcel hopes are that, that could change. Is there any hope? Long
shots everywhere yes, but what else did he have prior? First, is
the NHL Trading Deadline helping his cause. Will Stastny, Liles
and or Kovalev be traded? If yes, to whom? Liles going to
Toronto will not help anything. Second, can the Devils keep
winning? Shocking to us was the fact that GM Marcel dropped Zajac,
seeing as he was banking on Kovalchuk already.
Finally, will Marcel finish off what he started? (Earlier in
the season GM Marcel's movie quote was from Tombstone, "You gonna do
something, or just stand there and bleed?" He was 54 points out at
the time, so this one is only fitting now.) It was great trading
Pronger for Tanguay, when in his situation, but if he doesn't follow it
through, maybe moving further assets to build at the minimum a longer
shot team, it will have all been for not. |

39 (H22 - 502,
L24 - -221) |
(Correction: Last CTR the final word of this sentence "here"
should have read "there". Just to be clear.)
Sure you are 48 out, but truly do teams have to stop trying?
There is a difference here and in Dallas (Jr), for it can be argued the
effort was put in there.
GM Marcel has been smoking hot here in Montreal. Is back to only
46 points out. With the points in this league to give and carrying
Pronger this team could still come back, IF MARCEL WANTS IT TO HAPPEN.
It isn't just a transaction away, it is many, along with an aggressive
waiver, but it could be done. Will it be? We are talking
about GM Marcel here aren't we? |

Sure you are 48 out, but truly do teams have to stop trying?
There is a difference here and in Dallas (Jr), for it can be argued the
effort was put in there. Imagine trading Pronger for 10 and the Montreal guys for 10 and some
grabbing better
non playoff scorers a month ago? Maybe a waiver and a 10 point gain in
some 6-6 with what was left. A trade with what you pick up could
then compete for a playoff team, built
with 3 Hurricanes and 3 Kings, teams that could yet squeak in and either
of them going to the Cup finals and winning it for you. Why would
you not try? |

I really don't know if this is fitting or not. Seriously, I'd like
to know though... |
40 |
24 |
-174 (H22 - 502) |
Now 46 points
out with an injured Flyer, two Habs and a King on some Island with the
Devil and his son. |

-10 (H22 - 502) |
Know any fat
chicks good at singing? It is over here and the Pronger injury was
the icing on the cake, or more appropriate, the stake through the heart.
NEW YEAR'S WISH: Turn one second half waiver, this teams
biggest asset at this point, into some Draft picks for next season. |
30 |
24 |
181 (H22 - 502) |
14 to 30 to 43
to 54.
That is how many points GM Marcel's Habs were out 15 games ago, than 10,
than 5
games ago and now at the 30 game mark. Still nothing from Marcel.
Assets include Cammalleri and Pronger who total 35 points. Even
squeezing 15 points (something Marcel already turned down for them)
leaves him 39 out. Then a couple 7-7 drops, with some major point
gains, can it be done? Not GM Marcel's style maybe but what is the
other option? ("Skin
that smoke wagon and see what happens, Are you gonna do something or
just stand there and bleed?" - Tombstone.) |
25 |
23 |
181 (H22 - 502) |
14 to 30 to 43.
That is how many points GM Marcel's Habs were out 10 games ago, than 5
games ago and now at the 25 point mark. Basically, anyone can see,
he is fading fast! At 43 points out and carrying assets of Cammalleri,
Pronger, Subban and Handzus....can be best described as "Being on the
Titanic with a life jacket". The ship is sinking fast, and you
have about three to four hours, to decide what exactly you are going to
do, with only that little wee fucking life jacket, in the middle of the
Atlantic, in freezing water! |

502 (L22 - 422) |
"We have some
scorers on this team" said GM Marcel. We just ask, who are they?
GM Marcel just dropped from 14 points out at the CTR 15 game mark to 30
points out in just 35 player games. This team is going seriously,
in the wrong direction, and we believe GM Marcel may be holding on to
his beloved Canadiens, managing with his heart, and not his head.
"When you are this far out and have a waiver" says Muddy Capone, "Do you
keep your Subban's who have 8 points in 20 games? You have to cut
the string, or use it, to tie up a nice package with some points."
Marcel, did neither. |
15 |
22 |
422 (H22 - 475) |
"Take a fucking
French course" GM Marcel said in an email to Muddy Capone, likely just
wearing a little thin with the CTR comments. Who can blame Marcel
for his frustrations? A whopping 16 points out of 4th and without
a player to have scored double digits yet on the season.
Kovalchuk, Zajac, and Tavares all have one big ZERO in the CTR ratings
and the best players here, Cammalleri, Pronger and Vermette are all
under achieving. There is help on the way in the form of a
November 20th Waiver, but can GM Marcel save this team with just a
waiver? That remains to be seen! |

How do you say
DOUBLE YIKES in French? DOUBLE YILES!!! GM Marcel has fallen all
the way to 16 points back in the North with no signs of being able to
overcome this outside Kovalchuk, Zajac, Pronger, Vermette....ALL WAKING
UP! One guy isn't going to reverse the damage. To make
things much worse the Devils just suck so badly right now. They
can't stop anyone from scoring. GM Chad could score against the
Devils right now! The great news is the Devils are only 4 points
out of the playoffs. If they can prove they belong, and how can't
they, Kovalchuk at 6 points and Zajac at 4 are,VERY attractive, and
easily traded for major points. |

How do you say
YIKES in French? YIKES!!! No one is scoring and if it wasn't
for the NY Islanders quick start this team would be as bad as Calgary's
rating last year (OK, we know Cincinnati had the worse rating last
season, but that wouldn't be poking fun of Jr's misery and that is no
fun in itself). This team is going to continue to fall here until
the Devils (Kovalchuk and Zajac) get ranked or until GM Marcel makes it
happen. |
