Cannot stress enough how injuries have killed this team all season.
Now Callahan's missed scoring in the first round will likely keep this
team from pulling a nice upset and moving on. Not too much here to
be excited about outside of Pittsburgh or something resembling the
Miracle Mets of 1969. |

All things considered, since Malkin went down GM Andrew responded well.
A full playoff team if Chicago and Buffalo stay in. Really has
long shots only but does have two Pens and they could yet win first
overall in the Eastern Conference so who really can say. |

"The Fucker added Hawks huh" stated GM Scott when he saw GM Andrew's
Waiver pick. Well, maybe Andrew's luck is changing. He does
have 7 playoff players and is 13 points up on 5th in the West. Now
all he needs is the Sabres going to the Cup finals. "Go Sabres Go"
stated Andrew when asked what moves he might be making at the NHLP
Trading Deadline. Or as GM Scott stated, "Then again, maybe the
Hawks are doomed now." |

This team has no luck. They trade their 3 Ducks and the Ducks come
back. They trade their Rangers and the Rangers come back.
They trade Callahan one day and the next game he has 5 points.
They pick up Toronto players when the team can't lose and then they get
smoked. "Please Andrew, please don't add Blackhawks in LA"
stated GM Scott |

Never good to have a season low CTR this late in the season. Let's
be honest. The Malkin injury killed. Tried to regroup and
banked on the Ducks who seemingly were on fire. That was like
investing in Enron. Looked good for a while anyhow! Well
that too has failed and Andrew's three Ducks are out of it right now,
all unrated. The top seeded player here is a 6th seeded Hab.
Sure, Andrew has 14 points to work with, but with 4 non playoff players,
even if he makes a playoff team, it can't be much better than Charlie,
can it? Might be time to look for that loose change! |

The highs and lows of being an NHLP GM. Coming off a huge climb to
a season high, over 600 points, everything came crashing down with
one check in the corner. Losing Malkin for the season and
replacing him with a 719 point drop in the CTR has practically killed
all hope. Miracle Max could not even fix this team! It
appears GM Andrew will now do what he can and make a team that will at
best take some longer seeded teams to make a playoff splash, for any
hope of Andrew winning anything this season. At the
moment his hopes rest with Anaheim. Only 14 points up on Edmonton (GM Scott) who is
making a late season charge, GM Andrew has his work cut out for him if
he is to get in, while making something, anything, even if a long shot,
to give himself a chance now without Malkin. |

Now that is how it is done! A huge 600 point jump in the CTR takes
this team from all dead to mostly dead.
- Miracle Max: See, there's a big difference between
mostly dead, and all dead. Now, mostly dead: he's slightly
alive. All dead: well, with all dead, there's usually only one thing
that you can do.
- Inigo: What's that?
- Miracle Max: Go through his clothes and look for loose
change.
- GM Andrew now has position to yet improve this team further.
Really only Plekanec is a question mark, as the other players like
Selanne, Callahan and Anisimov are battling for 6th and not 8th,
although that margin for error is slight at best with such close NHL
standings. This teams biggest problem is scoring, but GM
Andrew doesn't build a winner in the first half, never has. He
creates it in the second half, so we'll watch it unfold here, if it
is meant to be.

Selanne is incredible. The over 40+ club all by himself.
Taht is, 40+ years old and over 40 points! Most guys his age are
retired already but he keeps on going. Anaheim is actually in a playoff
spot. Malkin plays here, so this team will always have a ton of
options. |

668 (H18 - 809, L18 - 534) |
The decision was to keep Selanne at the Winter Meeting, hoping Anaheim
can stick in the playoffs or fade hard and he gets traded. That
decision kept Rolston around as well. Malkin has the CTR value
here as GM Andrew is battling for 4th here. Fading will mean the
assets move and staying close will mean they stay and at this point,
this team could quickly turn either way. |

Another West team that has been hit with the injury bug constantly for
the past month. At one moment had 4 players down and now is only
Hemsky away from a full 7. Every point here is important.
Sitting with Malkin and several low numbers, so anything here is
possible. Already has 50 points to move in Selanne and Hemsky and
things won't all be easy. NEW YEAR'S WISH: Selanne traded at
the deadline? There is talk as this is his last hurrah. That
would greatly help. After that a Pittsburgh run with any support
for Malkin and Andrew could get Cup 5. |

809 (L18 - 534) |
Here is a team that has fallen to the furthest they have been out all
season. Has scored a league low 14 points through the first 14
days of December. Has been riddled with injuries in Selanne,
Hemsky, Malkin and Setoguchi and still....still...STILL hits a season
high CTR. Rolston is the perfect low number for Hemsky, so moving
an asset makes a nice 3-3 Waiver. Malkin has been slow but the
Penguins are all like opening a pack of hockey cards and getting a
rookie. It is all good, considering! (“Say
what again!” - Pulp Fiction) |

764 (H17 -
770, L18 - 534) |
Setoguchi and Malkin are battling injuries, and although neither should
be serious, GM Andrew is in tough and every point matters here in the
Pacific. Rolston is clearly an asset here, as he will be needed to
go to the minors with either Selanne, Hemsky or both at some point, as
those players just can't stick here, as is. |

753 (H17 -
770, L18 - 534) |
Another team in the West with 3 - 20+ point players. Malkin,
Plekanec and Selanne may have 'much different' CTR values, but they are
all scoring for GM Andrew. The same can't be said for Rolston,
Setoguchi and Chara. As far as assets, half the team isn't worth
typing their names out, so GM Andrew has work to do if this team is ever
going to be more than a wanna-play-first-round-matchup or #19 in the CTR
out of the junk behind! |

A season low CTR thanks to Malkin's Zero rating. Hell, even
Selanne is an asset (and the Yearbook was spreading rumors he'd be
dropped in a Wavier, shame, shame, shame). Andrew added a nice out
in Rolston, at zero points, helping the deals that will surely come with
this team, in unloading Hemsky and maybe Selanne if the Ducks become
nothing more than a bird strike. |

Malkin is still very slow, for Malkin. So are the Pens.
Selanne and Hemsky aren't rated. Plakanec remains solid as
Montreal has risen to the top seed in the East along with Tampa Bay.
Erat is back chipping in. |

Plekanec and Malkin are providing the points and Bozak has good value as
the Leafs keep winning. Erat has back problems which will get this
team looking for a Waiver and a deal if he isn't back, pardon the pun,
soon. |
